The Canadian premiere screening of WHERE IS THE SNOW??! is a music documentary following the madness and the mass musical party that is Iceland Airwaves. Following a highly successful debut and back by popular demand, Iceland Airwaves returns to Toronto calling attention to the coolest indie music fresh from Iceland. Since the birth of Iceland Airwaves in 1999 (in an airplane hangar) it has become one of the premier annual showcases for new music – Icelandic and otherwise – in the world. Select musical acts will promote the Airwaves festival by performing a special Toronto concert. This year’s exclusive performance will feature the infectious indie-pop of Iceland’s Of Monsters and Men and instrumental rockers du jour For a Minor Reflection. Opening is local Canadian/Icelandic artist Sigrún Stella.For a Minor Reflection comprises of four 20-year-olds from Reykjavík, Iceland - Kjartan Holm (guitar), Guðfinnur Sveinsson (guitar and piano), Elvar Jón Guðmundsson (bass) and Andri Freyr Þorgeirsson (percussion). Their music is best described as energetic, post-rock, though being the natural creative visionaries they are, the band expand and even subvert their style with almost every song. Following a scintillating live performance at 2007’s Iceland Airwaves, FaMR were invited to undertake a two-week 2008 tour in the USA and Canada. Later in the same year the band were invited to do 15 dates with Sigur Rós on a European tour and used the opportunity to release their album on iTunes, as well as selling it on the tour. Their fellow Icelanders Sigur Rós even described them as “a band with the potential to out Mogwai”.Of Monsters and Men are the 2010 winners of Músiktilraunir (a nation wide battle of the bands competition). The band's name is apt and fitting to their lyrics, which mostly comprise stories of all kinds of monsters, both fictional and human. While they used to be mainly an acoustic band, OM&M has taken their sound to a different level with the addition of bass, drums, piano and the accordion. Creating a bigger sound. The six piece indie/folk band has already had some success with their song “Little Talks”, that has spread over the world wide web like wildfire after the Seattle based radio station “Kexp” recorded it live over 2010, Iceland Airwaves festival. Their debut album "My head is an animal" was released in Iceland September 2011.
